The Holmdel Golf League is fortunate to be able to run its leagues on
some of the finest public courses in the country.
Hominy Hill
and
Howell Park
have previously been ranked within the top 100 public courses in the United States by various golf publications.
Charleston Springs opened in the early 1990's with two well regarded courses.
Shark River
and
Pebble Creek
are challenging courses in their own right.
The league no longer has flights at
Colts Neck,
Old Orchard,
and
Suneagles.
When deciding which course's flight to join, it's important to note that
these courses fall into two categories:
courses which are run by the Monmouth County Park System (Hominy Hill,
Howell Park, Charleston Springs, Shark River), and those which are not
(Pebble Creek).
The "county courses" have two features which some might consider undesireable:
higher greens fees for non Monmouth county residents, and the
Holmdel Golf League does not have reserved tee times for league play. The
Monmouth County Park System provides an automated tee time reservation
system which allows county residents to reserve tee times 7 days in
advance.
Because these courses are so popular, it is not always possible to obtain
the tee time that you're interested in). Despite
this drawback, we've successfully run leagues at these courses for many years.
It simply requires some discipline and communication on the part of the
members of these flights. To use the automatic tee time reservation
system, members must obtain a "Resident ID" (or county) card each year.
These cards can be obtained at the pro-shop with two forms of ID.
The Holmdel Golf League has arranged to have
four tee times reserved each night for league play at Pebble Creek.
All of the courses require spike-less shoes.
Pebble Creek has a dress code that may prohibit jeans and require collared shirts.
